For the sixth year, medics from central TX will be participating in the Nat'l EMS Memorial Bike Ride. We ride for Eric Hanson, a medic for Marble Falls EMS, who was killed in 2006 and his partner, Kyla Wilson, that was seriously injured in that accident. We ride for Stephanie Waters, a medic for PHI aeromed service, who died with her flight crew and patient in 2008. We ride for Tracy Chambers, a medic for Air Ambulance Stat, who died with her flight crew, patient, and patient's husband in 2010.

Day 3
Today the riders went from Rhode Island to Long Island. The weather was pretty nasty in the morning and didn't improve much throughout the day. I'm proud to say everyone toughed it out and made the ride though. We had a nice ending at Eisenhower Park for one of the 911 memorials. The only bad thing to report is one of the riders bikes jumped off the back of the truck while I was driving. The back wheel got bent a little but was easily and quickly fixed. We also had some issues with traffic...several people got annoyed by our slow convoy and tried to cut it. Hoover from FDNY took out a couple, a cop jumped out of his car and screamed at another guy that tried to break in twice, and I got to run a guy off the road in the Tx truck. It was entertaining, but most importantly, we kept the riders safe. We also got free tickets to a Mets vs Florida game so a bunch of us went there in ambulances....not safe but funny. The game had a 2 hour rain delay so we made the best of it by creating our own pub crawl in the stadium. All in all a good day!
